Privacy Policy

Last updated March 22, 2015

Reaction is a fun photo game that allows users to react to a variety of game-generated scenarios and share their reactions with friends and the world around them. Users can share photos directly with friends or to other social media platforms. They can also upload photos to our Reaction Feed to be voted on or shared by other users.

This Privacy Policy describes how we (Reaction the Game Inc.) collect, use, and share your information whenever you use our Services. Those Services include every way you may interact with us: through our mobile application (App), website (Site), and any other online products and Services that link to this Privacy Policy. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we’ll let you know. If you ever have a question about our Privacy Policy, please visit https://reactionthegame.com/contact.php.

By accepting the Privacy Policy in registration, by visiting and using the Site, by downloading and using the App, or by otherwise providing us with your personal information, you expressly consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

At the present time we do not collect any personal information from users by default. However we do associate your device’s app installation UUID with each Reaction and interaction so that we can provide you with the ability to view, delete and share your own Reactions. This means you do not have to log in to an account or share personal information with us to utilize our Services, but you still get to enjoy the many features of our product. If you delete the app and re-install it a new UUID is assigned to the new installation and all previous Reactions associated with the previous installation will be freed with no owner and no way for you to claim them and your Reputation will start again at 0. Signing up for an account, will ensure that you keep control of your Reactions and keep your Reputation. To sign up for an account we just request your email address (which will not be sold or shared with anyone) and a made up password. As our Services continue to develop, we may collect a few important details about you. Our primary purpose in collecting personal information from you would be to provide you with a safe, efficient, and a customized experience. This allows us to provide services and features that you request, and to customize our service to make your experience safer and easier. We will only collect personal information about you that we consider necessary for achieving this purpose.
We also automatically track certain information about you (only how you interact with our App) based upon your behaviour as you utilize our Services. We will use this information to facilitate communications offered through our Services, to provide you cool features and functionality, and to enable all the other purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
  • Usage Information:

We collect information about your activity and the Reactions you create and upload/share through our Services. For example, we collect information such as the time, date, and installation UUID of a Reaction you’ve uploaded, the number of Reactions you share with others, which Reactions you judge, and if Play Locally is turned on we associate your location with the Reaction in our database.
  • Play Locally:

If turned on we associate your location with that Reaction. If turned off no location is associated with the Reaction and it will only appear to other users who have Play Locally set to Everywhere or turned off. We recommend you turn off Play Locally when you’re at home. Other users don’t have access to the location of the Reaction, but they can tell how far away you were from where they are now because the App uses proximity from 0.5 km to everywhere in increments. Location information is only stored on our servers, it is not attached to the Reaction that users have access to.
  • Content Information:

We store pictures/Reactions that are publicly posted to our feeds on our servers. This allows us to keep accurate records of photo scores and user reputations to enhance the game experience. We reserve the right to remove Reactions from the public feed for any or no reason, but you will still see them in the MY… section. Reactions that aren’t uploaded/posted to our public feed are not tracked or kept by us in any way. For instance you can create a Reaction then save it to your device or share it somewhere else, then tap restart/delete and we’ll never know anything about it. We only keep/track Reactions that you explicitly upload to our feed for Judgement.
  • Device Information:

We collect information about your device, including the hardware model, operating system and version and unique installation identifiers (UUID). We also collect certain device information that will help us diagnose problems in the event you experience any crash or other problem while using our Services. For example, if we detect a problem, we may collect the list of apps on your device and other information about your device’s performance at the time of the event for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Information Collected by Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies:

Like most online services, we use cookies, web beacons, and other technologies. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that store information about your use of the Services, which can, among other things, help us see which areas and features of the Services are popular and let us track usage of our App. Web beacons are small pieces of software on a webpage or e-mail that help us see how you interact with that webpage or email. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. Keep in mind, though, that removing or rejecting cookies could affect the availability and functionality of our Services.
  • Website Log Information:

We collect log file information when you use our websites. That information includes, among other things, your web browser type and language, access times, pages viewed, your IP address, and the website you visited before navigating to our websites.

Subsidiaries and Affiliates; Service Providers and Google Analytics Display Advertising

We may from time to time use the services of affiliates, subsidiaries and unrelated service providers in the operation of the Site or App, and may disclose personal information to them in the course of our use of their services. For example, we may use the services of third-party hosting companies to host the operation of the Site. This may involve the hosting of data, including personal information, on servers operated by those hosting companies. These entities may use your personal information solely in conjunction with the specific services they provide for us. We ensure that any such third party service providers agree to handle any personal information provided to them strictly in accordance with this Privacy Policy and to otherwise maintain the same or better policies of privacy protection. Currently our server is housed in a secure data warehouse in California but this is subject to change as needed. We do not use any third party analytics, and we don't have any advertising so at the moment no one sees any of your personal information or usage or association directly or indirectly, except for us.

Ultimately, we use the above tools to anonymously profile your use of our Services in order to provide you with the best user experience possible. If you have any questions, you can also always contact us using the information provided at the end of this Privacy Policy.

Our Retention of Your Personal Information

We retain personal information for only as long as required to fulfill the identified purposes for which it was collected, and for a reasonable time thereafter, or as required by law. Reaction the Game has retention standards, which meet these requirements. We destroy your personal information when it is no longer needed, or we remove your name from the information. Once you close your account it cannot be reversed. For greater clarity, Reactions remain on our servers after you deactivate your account. You can delete Reactions from public view before you close your account, but the deleted Reactions will remain on our servers and in backup copies, even though they will not be viewable by the public ever again.
